As a proud member of the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council, IowaBio believes STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) for today’s youth is critical in securing a workforce that will be tomorrow’s bioscience leaders. IowaBio recently signed on as a partner with the Governor's STEM Advisory Council on the NSF ITEST grant proposal: Applying Computation in a Content area using Industry Applications (ACACIA). This project is specific to the bioscience industry with the goal of providing a platform for industry to show teachers how to they apply the tools of computation to problem-solve and analyze their daily work.
IowaBio is excited to announce that we have selected our student intern for the 2019-2020 school year. Noah Hamoud is a Senior at Drake University and is working toward his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on marketing analytics and research, direct and interactive marketing, and integrated marketing communications.

We are seeking a driven individual who will assist us part-time in fulfilling the mission of our association. The student selected for this position will have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and an ability to adapt to a variety of situations.
Iowa Biotechnology Association (IowaBio) Executive Director, Jessica Hyland presented the Biotech Innovation Showcase Award and $5,000 grand prize to Meeshanthini Dogan of Coralville-based Cardio Diagnostics, LLC on April 30, at a reception at the annual IowaBio Partnering for Growth Conference.

IowaBio and America's Cultivation Corridor presented the 2019 Cultivation Corridor Iowa Biotech Leader Award to Dr. Michael Abramoff, CEO and founder of IDx. Abramoff received the award on April 30, 2019 during a reception as part of the Iowa Biotechnology Association (IowaBio) annual conference, Partnering for Growth Biotech Innovation Showcase and Forum.
The Iowa Biotechnology Association (IowaBio) has named Central Lee High School Sophomore, Claire Wills of Donnellson, as the winner of the 2019 Iowa BioGENEius Challenge. The BioGENEius Challenge is a premier competition for high school students that recognizes outstanding research and innovation in the biotechnology field.

IowaBio is excited to announce a new Executive Director has been selected: Jessica Hyland. She will be joining our Association on January 7, 2019. Hyland has worked as a legislative lobbyist for 11 years: first, as Government Affairs Counsel and the Director of Governmental Affairs for the Iowa League of Cities, then as an associate at Davis Brown Law Firm, and through her own business, Harder Government Relations.
